State Large Group Contest Bus Departures

Men's Chorus will leave at 9:45am. The Women's Chorus will leave at 12pm. All buses should be back to West Branch around 3:30pm.

State Large Group Contest

We just received performance times for State Large Group Contest. Contest is held in Tipton on May 8, 2010. The choirs perform at the United Church of Christ, which is by Tipton High School. Admission to this event has changed from previous years. Adults $5 and Children of school age is now $3. The Men's Chorus will perform at 11am, Concert Choir at 1:15pm, and Women's Chorus is at 2pm. We are still in the process of planning transportation to Tipton. Once the departure times are decided, I will post them.

Show Choir Band and Crew

Instrumentalists and crew members are needed for the 2010-2011 show choir. Instruments needed are trumpets, saxophones, trombones, drums, percussion, synthesizer, and any student can join the crew. Please talk to Mr. Reed in the next month to schedule an audition time.

Show Choir Auditions 2010-2011

Large Group Contest

State Large Group Contest will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2010, at Tipton High School. This will include the Concert Choir, Men's Chorus, and Women's Chorus. Performance times are yet to be determined by the state office. Contest runs from 8am-5pm. All choir members are required to attend. The Women's Chorus will be performing "Sea Witch", "Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening", and "Ev'ry Time I Feel The Spirit". The Men's Chorus will be performing "Wait For The Wagon", "I'm Bound Away", and "Sing Me A Song of a Lad That is Gone". The Concert Choir will be performing Vivaldi's "Gloria" and "The Pasture".

Congratulations to Solos at State Contest

Congratulations to Isaac DeJong, Gabe Watson, and Annie Whiteside on their Superior I rating at State Solo and Ensemble Contest held at West Liberty on Saturday, April 10.

State Solo & Ensemble Contest Schedule

On Saturday, April 10th, high school vocal students will be traveling to West Liberty High School for the Iowa High School Music Association Solo and Ensemble Contest. The contest runs from 8am until 5pm. Our morning bus will leave at 7:15am, taking over students performing in the morning session. Another bus will leave WBHS at 11am for students only performing in the afternoon. The 11am bus will bring back any students who are only performing in the morning session. Congratulations Performing Arts

Congratulations to the Middle School and High School Jazz Bands, Christopher Jive and the Uptown 45 show choir, and soloists who performed so well at our annual Swing Show last weekend. We had 3 sell out shows and you all performed very well.

Swing Show Adds 3rd Show

The Annual Swing Show has added a 3rd show on Sunday, March 28 at 2:30pm due to selling out the Friday and Saturday shows this week. Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for students.

1st Place finish in Class 2A, finishing 1st Runner-up in the evening finals and the show choir band winning its 4th BEST BAND Award of the year! I am so proud of all of you. What a great way for seniors to end their show choir career.

Since Holy Trinity is not going to Central Lee now, we will use that time to eat lunch in Mt. Pleasant on the way down. Therefore we are now loading at 10:30am and leaving at 10:45am, which is 15 minutes earlier.

Central Lee Show Choir Invitational

We will load at 10:45am, leave WBHS at 11am. Arrive at Central Lee HS (Donnellson, Iowa) around 12:30pm. We will unload, watch Holy Trinity perform, then get ready to perform. Warm-up is at 1:50pm, performance is at 2:15pm, critique is 2:40pm. Our homeroom is #102. Daytime awards are at 6:15pm will finals starting around 7pm. This is our last competition of the year so all family and friends are encouraged to attend to support our group and the seniors last competition.

Congratulations to Christopher Jive and the Uptown 45

Congratulations on your 2nd Place finish for class 2A at Pella's Show Choir Invitational. In addition, our show choir won BEST VOCALS and BEST BAND for class 2A and Annie Whiteside won the Star Performer award for West Branch. Out of 17 schools, our show choir was one of six who made the finals. At the evening finals, Christopher Jive and the Uptown 45 placed 3rd Runner-up overall.

Dallas Center-Grimes Show Choir Invitational

Dallas Center-Grimes Show Choir Invitational Information: Meet at WBHS by 6am. Depart WBHS @ 6:15am. Arrive at Dallas Center-Grimes High School by 8:30am and unload. Watch first performance at 9am. Get Ready. Warm-up is at 10:20am, Performance is at 10:45am, Critique is at 11:10am. Awards at 5:35pm. Finals begin at 6:20pm with 2A finalist performances at 7:30pm & 7:55pm. Finals Awards at 9:45pm. This competition is different from ones previously attended. Instead of the top 5 to 6 show choirs, regardless of class, making the evening finals, at this competition the top two of each class make the evening finals. We hope to see many parents attending our first competition of the season!

Congatulations to Moria Vaughan!

Moria was selected to sing in this year's Iowa State Honor Choir held in February, 2010. Moria, along with 8 other West Branch High School students, auditioned on Tuesday, November 3 at City High School. Roughly 500 students across the state of Iowa audition and only 100 are selected for this prestigious honor. The Iowa State Honor choir is held on the campus of Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa, under the direction of Dr. James Rodde.

National Anthem Ladies Invited to Cedar Rapids

The junior and senior ladies who sang the National Anthem at the UNI Dome last Saturday have been invited to sing for the Roughriders High School Team on Saturday, December 12th. Congratulations ladies!
